Project 5

For this project, I decided to do a theme of withering through the ages. Many things decay, wither, or rust over time and I decided to do a selective focus on some of those objects. Here are the images:

Project 4

For this project, I decided to do portraits in black and white. While there is no color in these images, I used the light to highlight certain parts that neede emphasis. I chose do photograph Danielle Williams showing various emotions and many different places

Project 3

In this project, I strive to frame many different scenes, buildings, and objects. I had already taken many picures on my venture to Germany for this exact reason. The pictures depict natural frames, not like normal picture frames.

Project 2

For this project, I plan on focusing on the patterns and textures of everday objects. Many just walk by, either on the street or even at home, without noticing the unique details of many objects. I plan to expose these details and show the individuality of common objects. I think one needs to look deeper when viewing the world and I hope this forms some kind of perspective.

Project 1

My plan for this project is to do out of water shooting. I really would like to do underwater shooting eventually so I think this will be a really good starting point. I want to try to create a sense of motion using the water and splashes maybe. I am very inspired by an artist I previously posted about, Brian Oglesbee. He does a lot of underwater shooting, playing with the movement of the water and the bubbles and with reflections. I plan on trying to do things very similar to this. Obviously, the pictures will not be to his magnitude of quality but I will try to incorporate similar idea in my photos.

Week 2

Ca Del Duca Sforza by Vera Lutter

I really like this photo because of the textures and patterns and the lighting. I like the eerie feeling caused by the interesting lighting in this photo due to the fact that it was taken at night. It makes it look as if there is a layer of fog spread accross the bay. I also like how there are darker patterned lines on the sidewalk which lead the view to the buildings in the background. Overall. this is a very interesting photograph.

Week 1

Campito Mountain #49 by John Wimberley
http://www.johnwimberleyphotography.com/enlarge.php?image=JW-006
I really like this photo because of the shadows and the different ranges of black and white. In the background, the clouds are perfectly arranged to appear like a sun rising or setting. Also, there are many different levels of the terrain, creating different colors and a texture. Although the mountains may be of the same material, they appear to be different because of the lighting and the clouds above. I also like how the photographer chose to place the highest point in the left and not in the center of the photo, playing with the rule of thirds.
I really like this photo because it has many hidden pictures. First off, the leaf is really cool because it isn’t completely opaque, allowing the viewer to see the bubbles behind the layer of leaf. I also like how the leaf is at the bottom of the photo and how it kind of looks like the bubbles are being expelled by the leaf. But, the coolest parts of the photo are the bubbles themselves. At first glance, the bubbles just appear to have light shined on them. But, given a closer look, the bubbles appear to have many faces inside of them, as if a woman or man is trapped. It gives the photo a very unique touch.
